Postadana ka Halwa or Khas-khas Ka Halwa or Posat Ka Halwa Recipe - With Lakshmi Recipes

With winters round the corner Postadana Halwa is one of the most relished dishes during fasts and other special occasions. This halwa is a superfood to satisfy hunger pangs and suitable for expectant and feeding mothers. Savour this healthy delicious halwa with the recipe and step by step photos given below:

  • Poppy seeds (postadana or khaskhas) - 200 grams
  • Desi ghee - 2-3 table spoon
  • Boiled and thickened milk - 1 cup
  • Dry fruits: 3 table spoon chopped to small pieces
    • Almonds (badaam)
    • Cashews (kaju)
    • Pistachios (pista)
  • Sugar to taste

Procedure for making Postadana Halwa or Khaskhas Ka Halwa:

  1. Soak the poppy seeds (postadana) for 2 hours in water. Then grind them in amixer grinder to a form a granular paste.
  2. Now heat desi ghee in a kadhai with thick base. Add the paste of the poppy seeds (postadana) prepared, to the kadhai and stir.
  3. Lower the flame to stir fry the paste slowly for about 20 minutes, till it turns red uniformly.
  4. Now add sugar to it and mix well. Stir for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Now add the milk to the kadhai, and increase the flame. Keep stirring till all the milk gets absorbed.
  6. The postadana halwa is now ready to be served. Transfer the halwa to beautiful serving dish. Garnish it with the chopped dry fruits (badaam, kaju, pista) and serve hot.

पोस्ता-दाना हलवा या खस-खस का हलवा बनाने की प्रक्रिया:

  1. खस-खस के दानों को पानी में 2 घंटे के लिए भिगो दें। फिर उन्हें मिक्सर ग्राइंडर में डालें और हल्का दरदरा पीस लें।
  2. अब एक मोटे तले की कढ़ाई में देसी घी गरम करें। कढ़ाई में खस-खस (या पोस्ता-दाना) क दरदरा पिसा हुआ पेस्ट डालें।
  3. आंच को कम कर लें और पेस्ट को लगभग 20 मिनट तक धीरे-धीरे भुनकर पकने दें, जब तक कि यह समान रूप से लाल न हो जाए।
  4. अब इसमें चीनी डालें और अच्छी तरह मिलाएं। 3-4 मिनट तक लगातर चलाते हुए पकाएं।
  5. अब कढ़ाई में उबला हुआ दूध डालें, और आंच तेज कर लें। लगातर चलाते हुए तब तक पकाएं जब तक कि खस-खस पूरे दूध को सोख न लें।
  6. पोस्टदाना हलवा अब परोसे जाने के लिए तैयार है। हलवा को खूबसूरत बरतन में निकाल लें। इसे कटे हुए ड्राई-फ्रूट्स  (बादाम, काजू, पिस्ता) के साथ गार्निश करें और गरमा-गरम परोसें।
