Cheese Balls Recipe - Learn How To Make Cheese Balls

Cheese Balls are a great lip-smacking snack for kids and a delectable starters for house parties. Crispy potato layer on outside, with hot cream cheese at its core makes this dish extremely tempting. The famous tag line "you can't eat just one" does full justice to this dish.

Learn how to make these delicious cheese balls in your kitchen and make the evening special by following the detailed recipe and step by step photos given below:

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Recipe Yield: 6 cheese balls (3 servings;2 cheese balls per serving)

Ingredients for making Cheese Balls / सामग्री:

  • Boiled Potato - 2 medium sized; (उबले हुए आलू)
  • Bread Slices - 4; (ब्रेड का स्लाइस)
  • Salt as per taste; (स्वाद के अनुसार नमक)
  • Carrot - 1/2, peeled off and finely grated; (कसा हुआ गाजर)
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece, grated; (कसा हुआ अदरक)
  • Curry Leaves - as per taste; (करी पत्ता)
  • Green Chilli - 3-4, finely chopped; (हरी मिर्च)
  • Refined Oil - for frying; (रिफाइंड तेल)
  • Amul cheddar cheese cubes - 3, grated; (अमुल चीज़ क्यूब्स)
  • Cumin Seeds Powder - 1/2 tea spoon; (जीरा पाउडर)
  • Black Pepper Powder - 1/2 tea spoon; (काली मिर्च पाउडर)
  • Coriander leaves - as per taste, finely chopped; (धनिया के पत्ते)

Procedure for making Cheese Balls:

  1. Peel off the boiled potato and mash them nicely until smooth.
  2. Then take 4 bread slices and sprinkle some water to moisten them. Mash them too, nicely until smooth.
  3. Transfer the mashed bread slices and mashed boiled potato to a mixing bowl. Then add salt as per taste, grated ginger, grated carrot, curry leaves and finely chopped green chilli to it. Mix all the ingredients well with hands.
  4. Now divide the boiled potato mixture prepared in the previous step, into small equal sized portions. And roll each of this piece into a smooth ball or laddu. (The size of each ball or portion should be same as the size of wheat ball used for making one chapati)
  5. Now take a plate and grate 3 cubes of cheddar cheese (Amul cheese).
  6. Add 1 tea spoon of finely chopped coriander leaves, 1 pinch salt, 1/2 tea spoon cumin seeds powder and 1/2 tea spoon black pepper powder to it. Mix all the ingredients well.
  7. Now take one boiled potato ball or laddu and create a depression like a bowl at its center (as shown in the image below). Then place some cheese mixture in it and then bring the side together to close the opening and roll it smooth like a ball. The cheese ball is ready for frying. Prepare the other cheese balls in the same manner. (Do not put excess cheese mixture in the boiled potato balls, otherwise they mein tear and the cheese will come out due to the heat while frying)
  8. Then heat some refined oil in a thick based kadhai. The oil taken should be enough in quantity so that the balls are completely submerged in it as you fry them.
  9. Lower the flame when the oil is completely heated.
  10. Now put 2-3 cheese balls in it slowly for frying. Fry the cheese balls slowly over low flame until they turn crispy red on one side. Roll them slowly to cook in the same manner on all sides.
  11. Then transfer the fried crispy cheese balls to a plate covered with tissue paper to absorb the extra oil. Fry the remaining cheese balls in the same manner. The hot, crispy, delectable cheese balls are ready to be served.

चीज़ बॉल बनाने की प्रक्रिया:

  1. उबले हुए आलू को छील लें और चिकना होने तक मैश करें।
  2. फिर 4 ब्रेड का स्लाइस लें और उनपर थोड़ा पानी छिड़क दें। फिर उन्हें भी चिकना होने तक, अच्छी तरह से मैश करें।
  3. अब मसले हुए ब्रेड स्लाइस और आलू को एक कटोरे में डालें। फिर इसमें स्वाद के अनुसार नमक डालें, कसा हुआ अदरक, बारीक कसा हुआ गाजर, करी पत्ता और बारीक कटा हुआ हरी मिर्च डाल दें। सभी सामग्री अच्छी तरह से हाथों से मिलाएं।
  4. अब उबला हुए आलू के मिश्रण को (जो पिछले चरण में तैयार किया गया है), छोटे समान आकार के हिस्से में बांट लें। फिर इन टुकड़ों को अपने हाथों से गेंद या लड्डू जैसा गोल और चिकना बना दें। (प्रत्येक गेंद या लड्डू का आकार एक चपाती की लोई के समान होना चाहिए)
  5. अब एक प्लेट में 3 क्यूब्स चीज़ (अमुल चीज़) को कद्दू कस करें।
  6. फिर इसमें 1 छोटी चम्मच बारीक कटा हुए धनिया के पत्ते, 1 चुटकी नमक, ½ छोटी चम्मच जीरा पाउडर और 1/2 छोटी चम्मच काली मिर्च पाउडर डालें। सभी सामग्री को अच्छी तरह से मिलाएं।
  7. अब एक उबले हुए आलू के बॉल या लड्डू लें और एक कटोरे की तरह उसके केंद्र पर एक गड्ढा बनाएं (जैसा कि नीचे की छवि में दिखाया गया है)। फिर उसमें कुछ चीज़ का मिश्रण रखें और फिर किनारों को एक साथ लाकर गेंद या लड्डू जैसा गोल और चिकना करें। चीज़ बॉल तलने के लिए तैयार है। उसी प्रकार से बाकी चीज़ बॉल को तैयार करें (उबले हुए आलू के बर्तनों में अतिरिक्त चीज़ मिश्रण मत डालें, नही तो तलते समय गर्मी के कारण चीज़ बाहर आजाएगा)।
  8. फिर एक मोटे तले की कढ़ाई में कुछ रिफाइंड तेल गरम करें। तेल की मात्रा इतनी हो कि तलते समय चीज़ बॉल तेल में डूबे रहें।
  9. जब तेल पूरी तरह गर्म है तब आँच कम कर दें।
  10. अब 2-3 चीज़ बॉल को धीरे-धीरे कढ़ाई में डाल दें। चीज़ बॉल को धीरे-धीरे कम आँच पर तलें जब तक कि वे हर तरफ लाल न हो जाए। सभी तरफ पर समान तरीके से तलने के लिए उन्हें धीरे-धीरे रोल करें।
  11. फिर तली हुई चीज़ बॉल को टिशू पेपर के साथ कवर की एक प्लेट में निकाल कर रखें। इसी तरह से शेष चीज़ बॉल को तलें। गर्म, कुरकुरी और स्वादिश्ट चीज़ बॉल परोसने के लिए तैयार हैं।
