Ingredients for Hare Matar ke Chawal /

  • Steamed Rice - 1 big cup; (पकाया हुआ चावल)
  • Green Peas - 1/2 big cup; (हरी मटर)
  • Onion - 1, finely chopped; (प्याज)
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece, finely chopped; (अदरक)

  • Chaat Masala Powder - 1 tea spoon; (चाट मसाला पाउडर)
  • Refined Oil - 1 table spoon

Procedure for Hare Matar Ke Chawal:

  1. Wash the green peas with water nicely and then trasnfer them to a mixer jar. Then grind the green peas into a granular form. (Do not over grind the green peas otherwise a paste like texture will be formed.)
  2. Now heat 1 table spoon refined a thick based kadhai.
  3. Add the finely chopped onion, ginger and green chilli to it. Saute the ingredients till they turn golden red in color.
  4. Then add ground green peas to the kadhai, followed by salt as per taste and 1 tea spoon chaat masala powder. Stir to mix all the ingredients well.
  5. Now cover the kadhai with a lid and allow the ground green peas to cook like this for 5 minutes.
  6. After 5 minutes remove the lid and check if the ground pieces of green peas are cooked and have become soft. If they are still hard then cover the kadhai with the lid and allow them to cook until soft for some more time.
  7. Then remove the lid and add the cooked steamed rice to the kadhai and stir the ingredients nicely with a ladle from the base of the kadhai. Stir nicely till the rice mixes with the green peas masala uniformly.
  8. Now sprinkle some finely chopped green coriander leaves and the hot hare matar ke chawal (green peas rice) is ready to be served.
