Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Recipe Yield: 8 laddus
Alternative Names: Safed Til Ke Laddu, Kale Til Ke Laddu, Sesame Balls, Ellunda, Sesame Seeds Balls, Sesame Seeds Laddu
Ingredients:
- White Sesame Seeds (safed til) - 250 gm (You can use Black or White sesame seeds as per your requirement. They taste almost same with a very slight difference. Black Sesame seeds have their hulls (shells) in tact, whereas White Sesame seeds have their hulls removed.)
- Jaggery (gud) - 150 gm
- Water - 1 cup
Procedure:
- Heat a kadhai and dry roast the white sesame seeds (safed til). Then transfer the roasted white sesame seeds (safed til) to a big plate.
- In the same kadhai take the jageery (gud) and add 1 cup water to it. Set the jaggery (gud) to boil in the water over high flame. Keep stirring continuously as the jaggery melts to form a uniform solution with water (gud ki chashini).
- The consistency of the jaggery solution (gud ki chashini) will thicken in some time. At this moment pour 2-3 drops of this solution in a small cup of water. If the drops of jaggery solution (gud ki chashini) begin to solidify in water then turn off the flame.
- Then pour this jaggery solution (gud ki chashini) into the big plate containing the roasted white sesame seeds (safed til) and mix the ingredients well.
- Now moisten your hands with water and start making small and round laddus of the mixture. The laddus should be of equal sizes.
- The laddus are now ready to be served. Celebrate this Sankranti with these tasty, healthy and home made til ke laddu.
(Tips: Add the jaggery solution (gud ki chashini) slowly into the roasted white sesame seeds (safed til) and keep mixing continuously. Slowly adding the jaggery solution (gud ki chashini) will help you in controlling the amount of the jaggery solution (gud ki chashini) you add to the roasted white sesame seeds (safed til). If the amount of jaggery solution (gud ki chashini) is more then the laddu prepared will be sticky and if it is less then all the roasted white sesame seeds (safed til) will not stick and bind together)
