Bread Pakora or Bread Pattice or Bread Pakoda Recipe - With Lakshmi Recipes

Crispy, fried and spicy Bread Pakoras are a favorite breakfast, tea time snack and a popular street food of India. They are really easy to make for sudden gatherings. Bread Pakoras are most popular in Mumbai as street food and compliment your hot cup of tea during the rainy monsoon evenings.

Prepare these amazingly tasty and quick to make Bread Pakodas with a simple and detailed recipe given below: 

Preparation Time: 7 minutes

Cooking Time: 10 minutes for preparing all sandwiches + 3-4 minutes to fry one batch of bread pakora (I have fried 2 bread pakoras at a time. If your have bigger kadhai you can fry 3-4 bread pakoras at one time.)

Recipe Yield: 2 servings (4 bread pakora in one serving)

Ingredients for making Bread Pakora or Bread Pattice:

  • Bread Slices - 4
  • Mashed Boiled Potato or mashed ubale huye aloo - 4 big size
  • Gram Flour or besan - 1 small cup
  • Refined Oil - as per requirement for making the stuffing and frying the bread pakodas
  • Sandwich chutney or hare dhaniye ki chutney - as per requirement
  • Salt as per taste
  • Turmeric powder or haldi powder - 1 tea spoon
  • Cumin Powder or jeera powder - 1/2 tea spoon
  • Black Pepper Powder or kali mirch powder - 1/2 tea spoon
  • Red Chilli Powder or lal mirch powder - 1/2 tea spoon
  • Curry leaves or kari patta - 7-8
  • Black Mustard Seeds or rai - 1 tea spoon
  • Carom Seeds or ajwain - 1 tea spoon
  • Water - as per requirement for making the batter for Bread Pakoras

Procedure for making Bread Pakora or Bread Pattice:

  1. Take a big mixing bowl and add gram flour to it. Add turmeric powder, salt and carrom seeds to it. Mix the dry ingredients together.
  2. Add some water and mix with the dry mixture. Make sure that no lumps are formed.
  3. Now add some more water and prepare a medium thick batter. The batter should neither be watery nor very thick in consistency. Keep the batter prepared aside while you prepare the stuffing for bread pakora or bread patties.
  4. Heat some refined oil in a kadhai and add black mustard seeds and curry leaves to it. Allow the black mustard seeds to crackle.
  5. Then add turneric powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder and salt to the kadhai. Mix the spices together.
  6. Then quickly add the mashed boiled potatoes and mix. Allow the the mashed boiled potatoes to cook with the spices for 2 minutes and then turn off the flame. The stuffing for Bread Pakora or bread pattice is ready. Allow the stuffing to cool a little.
  7. Now take a plate and take two bread slices. Keep them side by side.
  8. Apply some sandwich chutney over both of the bread slices.
  9. Then take some generous amount of stuffing and place it on one bread slice. Spread it to form a uniform layer.
  10. Now cover this layer with the other bread slice with the chutney side facing downwards (as shown in the images below). Press slightly.
  11. Then cut this sandwich into 4 equal triangular pieces by cutting it diagonally (as shown in the images below). Prepare all sandwiches like this.
  12. Now heat some refined oil in a kadhai and when the oil is hot enough then lower the flame to low level.
  13. Take one sandwich piece and dip it in the gram flour batter, which was prepared earlier. Dip to coat it nicely on all sides.
  14. Then transfer this coated sandwich to the hot oil to deep fry, till it turns crispy on all sides. Flip and fry uniformly on all sides. Then transfer the fried bread pakora or bread patties to a plate. Fry the remaining bread pattice or bread pakoda in the same way.
  15. Serve hot, tempting, crispy and spicy Bread pakora or Bread Pattice with green chutney or tomato sauce. 

ब्रेड पकोरा या ब्रेड पैटिस बनाने की प्रक्रिया:

  1. एक बड़ा मिश्रण कटोरा लें और इसमें बेसन, हल्दी पाउडर, नमक और अजवैन डालें। सारी सूखी सामग्री को एक साथ मिलाएं।
  2. थोड़ा पानी डालें और सूखे मिश्रण के साथ मिलाएं। ये ध्यान रखें कि कोईइ गांठ न बने।
  3. अब थोड़ा और पानी डालें, मिलाएं और एक मध्यम गाढ़ा घोल तैयार करें। ये ध्यान रखें कि घोल न ही ज्यादा पतला हो और न ही ज्यादा गाढ़ा हो। घोल को ब्रेड पकोरा या ब्रेड पैटिस की स्टफिंग बनाने तक अलग रख दें।
  4. एक कढ़ाई में थोड़ा रिफाइंड तेल डालकर गरम करें और फिर इसमें राई और करी पत्ता डालें। राई को चटकने दें।
  5. फिर कढ़ाई में हल्दी पाउडर, जीरा पाउडर, लाल मिर्च पाउडर, काली मिर्च पाउडर और नमक डालें। मसालों को एक साथ मिलाएं।
  6. फिर जल्दी से मैश किए हुए उबले आलू डालें और मिलाएं। मैश किए हुए उबले आलू को मसालों के साथ 2 मिनट तक पकाएं और फिर गैस को बंद कर दें। ब्रेड पकोरा या ब्रेड पैटिस की स्टफिंग तैयार है। स्टफिंग को थोड़ा ठंडा होने दें।
  7. अब एक प्लेट लें और इसमें दो ब्रेड स्लाइस अगल-बगल रखें।
  8. दोनों ब्रेड स्लाइस पर थोड़ी सैंडविच चटनी लगाएं।
  9. फिर एक ब्रेड स्लाइस पर थोड़ी स्टफिंग डालें और फैलाएं।
  10. अब इस परत को दूसरी ब्रेड स्लाइस के साथ कवर कर दें (जैसा कि नीचे दी गई छवियों में दिखाया गया है)। हल्का सा दबा दें।
  11. फिर इस सैंडविच को 4 बराबर के त्रिकोणीय टुकड़ों में काट लें (जैसा कि नीचे दी गई छवियों में दिखाया गया है)। इस तरह की सभी सैंडविच तैयार करें।
  12. अब एक कढ़ाई में थोड़ा रिफाइंड तेल डालकर गरम करें और जब तेल पर्याप्त गर्म हो जाए तो आंच को कम कर दें।
  13. एक सैंडविच लें और इसे बेसन के घोल में डुबो दें (जिसे पहले तैयार किया गया था)। इसे सभी तरफ बेसन के घोल से अच्छी तरह से कोट करें।
  14. फिर इस सैंडविच को गर्म तेल में तलने केलिए सावधानी से डाल दें, जब तक कि यह सभी तरफ कुरकुरा लाल न हो जाए। उलट-पलट कर सभी तरफ समान रूप से तलें। फिर तले हुए ब्रेड पैकोरा या रोटी पैटिस को प्लेट में स्थानांतरित करें। उसी तरह ब्रेड पकोड़ा तल कर तैयार करें।
  15. हरी चटनी या टमाटर सॉस के साथ तैयार गरमा-गरम और क्रिस्पी और मसालेदार ब्रेड पैकोरा या रोटी पैटिस या ब्रेड पकोड़ा को परोसें।
