Thandai Recipe - Learn How To Make Thandai

A heavenly drink for the scorching summers, that can be made in just 5 minutes. Its refreshing and loaded with cooling flavors that are sure to relieve you from the summer heat.

Prepare this beautiful, healthy, refreshing and tasty summer cooler drink "Thandai" with an easy recipe and video given below:

Preparation Time: 2 hours for boiling and chilling milk + 10 minutes to prepare the (thandai mixture or thandai powder)

Cooking Time: 5 minutes

Recipe Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients for making Thandai:

  • Milk or doodh - 1 litre, boiled and then cooled
  • Saffron strands or kesar - as per requirement, soaked in 2-3 table spoon water
  • Dried Rose petals or gulab ki sookhi hui pankhudi - as per requirement
  • Sugar or Cheeni - as per requirement
  • Cashews or kaju - 1 table spoon
  • Pistachios or pista - 1 table spoon
  • Almonds or badaam - 2 table spoon
  • Muskmelon Seeds or kharbooje ke beej - 1 table spoon
  • Poppy Seeds or khus-khus or posta dana - 1 table spoon
  • Fennel Seeds or Saunf - 1 table spoon
  • Black Pepper or kali mirch - 1 tea spoon
  • Green Cardamom or hari/chhoti elaichi - 4
  • Cinnamon Stick or dalchini - 2, small pieces
  • Ice Cubes or barf - as per requirement
  • Fresh rose petals - as per requirement, for garnishing

Procedure for making Thandai:

  1. Pour 1 litre milk in a deep vessel and set it to boil. Then allow it to cool and chill in refrigerator for atleast 2 hours.
  2. Then take cashews, almonds, pistachios, poppy seeds, fennel seeds, cinnamon stick, green cardamom, black pepper and sugar in a mixer jar. Take sugar as per taste or requirement.
  3. Add dried rose petals to the mixer jar and then grind the ingredients together to form a fine powder like mixture. Transfer the prepared thandai mixture to a plate. (Remember to grind the ingredients to form a fine powder.)

     

  4. Now when the milk is chilled then pour it into the blender jar.
  5. Add thandai mixture as per your requirement followed by ice cubes, saffron water and rose water. (Add rose water as per your taste.)
  6. Blend the ingredients together for 1 minute. Chilled, aromatic and refreshing thandai is ready. Pour in earthen pots or glass and enjoy it with your friends and family.
  7. (Note: Use thandai mixture or thandai powder as per requirement. You can store the thandai powder or thandai mixture in a box or jar and keep it in refrigerator, to be used whenever needed.)

ठंडाई बनाने की प्रक्रिया:

  1. एक गहरे पतीले में 1 लीटर दूध डालें और उसको उबाल लें। फिर इसे कम से कम 2 घंटे के लिए रेफ्रिजरेटर में ठंडा होने के लिए रख दें।
  2. फिर एक मिक्सर जार में काजू, बादाम, पिस्ता, खस-खस (पोस्तादाना), सौंफ़, दालचीनी, हरी इलायची, काली मिर्च और चीनी डालें। आप चीनी अपने स्वाद या आवश्यकता के अनुसार ही डालें।
  3. मिक्सर जार में सूखे गुलाब पंखुड़ियों डालें और फिर सामग्री को एक साथ बारीक पीसकर, बारीक पाऊडर जैसा बना लें। एक प्लेट में तैयार ठंडाई मिश्रण को निकाल लें। (याद रखें कि ठंडाई मिश्रण एकदम बारीक पाऊडर जैसा पिसा हुआ हो।)
  4. अब जब दूध ठंडा हो जाए तो उसे ब्लेंडर जार में डालें।
  5. फिर इसमें आवश्यकता के अनुसार ठंडाई मिश्रण, केसर वाला पानी, बर्फ के, क्यूब्स और गुलाब जल डालें। (गुलाब जल को आप अपने स्वाद के अनुसार ही डालें।)
  6. सामग्री को 1 मिनट के लिए ब्लेंड करें। ठंडी, सुगंधित और ताज़ा ठंडाई तैयार है। इसे मिट्टी के कुल्हड़ या कांच के गिलास में डालें और अपने दोस्तों और परिवार के साथ इस ठंडी-ठंडी ठंडाई आनंद लें।

(नोट: १। आप अपने आवश्यकता के अनुसार ही ठंडाई मिश्रण या ठंडाई पाउडर का उपयोग करें। आप एक डब्बे या जार में ठंडाई पाउडर या ठंडाई मिश्रण को स्टोर करके रेफ्रिजरेटर में रख सकते हैं।)
