An amazing street food or evening tea-time snack or hot smack when its pouring the bread pakoras make a great appetizer. These pakoras are prepared by shallow frying the bread slices dipped in spicy batter of gram flour. You can deep fry them but here we have used less oil to shallow fry them over the non-stick pan. 

Shallow fried bread pakoras are a guilt-free and healthier version of the bread pakoras available in restaurants or the street thelas. They can be served with spicy and tangy green chutney, or imli and gud ki chutney or just plain tomato sauce.

These bread pakoras are loved by everyone and you can make them easily any time for house parties or evening snack or Sunday morning breakfast or just to enjoy the rainfall during monsoon season. Learn to make these tasty, crispy, spicy, shallow fried and less oil bread pakoras with the help of detailed recipe and step by step photos given below:

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Cooking Time: 10 minutes for resting the batter + 15 minutes for cooking the bread pakoras

Recipe Yield: 5 servings

Ingredients for making Shallow Fried Bread Pakoras / सामग्री:

  • Bread Slice - 4
  • Gram Flour - 2 table spoon
  • Semolina - 1 table spoon
  • Green Chilli - 4, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece, finely chopped
  • Coriander Leaves - 2 table spoon, finely chopped
  • Salt as per taste
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tea spoon
  • Cumin Seeds Powder - 1 tea spoon
  • Black Pepper Powder - 1 tea spoon
  • Curd - 1 table spoon
  • Water - 1/2 cup or as per requirement
  • Mustard Oil or Refined Oil - as per requirement for shallow frying the bread pakoras

Procedure for making Shallow Fried Bread Pakoras:

  1. Take semolina, gram flour, salt, turmeric powder, cumin seeds powder and black pepper powder in a deep mixing bowl and mix all the dry ingredients together.
  2. Now add chopped ginger, green chilli and coriander leaves to it.
  3. Then add curd, water to the the dry mixture and mix to form a batter of medium thin consistency. Mix well such that no lumps are formed. (Remember that the batter should neither be of very thick consistency nor very thin.)
  4. Leave the batter to rest for 5-10 minutes.
  5. Heat a non-stick pan and grease it with 1 table spoon oil.
  6. Take one bread slice and dip it in the batter, such that the bread slice gets coated with the batter nicely on all sides.
  7. Then place the this bread slice over the hot pan. Allow the bread slice to shallow fry till it turns crispy brown on one side.
  8. Now flip to shallow fry in the same manner on the other side. The bread pakora is ready. Prepare all the bread pakoras in the same manner. Serve hot, spicy, crispy, very tasty, shallow fried and less oily bread pakoras with some spicy and tangy chutney or tomato sauce.

ब्रेड पाकोरा बनाने की प्रक्रिया:

  1. एक गहरी कटोरे में सूजी, बेसन, नमक, हल्दी पाउडर, जीरा पाउडर और काली मिर्च पाउडर डालें और सभी सूखी सामग्री को एक साथ मिलाएं।
  2. अब बारीक कटा हुआ अदरक, हरी मिर्च और धनिया पत्ति को इसमें डाल दें।
  3. फिर सूखे मिश्रण में पानी डालें और मध्यम पतली स्थिरता के घोल बनाने के लिए मिलाएं। घोल को अच्छी तरह से मिलाएं ताकि कोई गांठ न बने। (याद रखें कि घोल बहुत मोटी स्थिरता का या बहुत पतली स्थिरता का नहीं होना चाहिए।)
  4. घोल को 5-10 मिनट तक बिना हिलाए छोड़ दें।
  5. एक नाॅन-सटिक पैन को गरम करें और इसे 1 बड़ा चम्मच तेल उसपर डालकर के फैला दें।
  6. अब एक ब्रेड के स्लाइस लें और घोल में अच्छी तरह से डुबोएं, जिस्से कि ब्रेड के स्लाइस के सभी पक्षों पर घोल अच्छी तरह से लग जाए।
  7. फिर गर्म पैन पर इस ब्रेड के स्लाइस को रखें। ब्रेड के स्लाइस को खास्ता लाल (क्रिस्पी लाल) होने तक सेकें।
  8. अब दूसरी तरफ इसी तरीके से सेकने के लिए ब्रेड के स्लाइस को पलट दें। शैलो फ्रायड ब्रेड पाकोरा तैयार है। इसी तरह से बाकि ब्रेड पाकोरा तैयार करें। आपके गरमा-गरम, तीखे, खस्ता, बहुत ही स्वादिष्ट और कम तेल में तले हुए ब्रेड पाकोरा तैयार हैं। इन गरमा-गरम ब्रेड पाकोरा को चटनी या टमाटर सॉस के साथ परोसें।
