Alasi Ka Powder Recipe - Learn How To Make Alasi Ka Powder

The Flax seeds also known as Linseeds or Alasi or  Teesi are packed with micronutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and healthy cholesterol that help fight several ailments such as, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, hot flashes.  Taking small amount of flax seed in regular meal helps in weight loss and keeping the heart cholesterol free.

Flax seeds have a smooth outer layer and hence they do not get digested by the human body. Hence since ancient times, people have been using it in the grinded form in chutney or laddu or parathas.

So here is a short and detailed recipe of preparing a powder of roasted flax seeds that can be used in chutney, laddu, parathas, salads, raita, oats meal, etc and is easily disgested by the human body.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Flax Seeds or Linseeds (Alasi or Teesi) - 500 gm

Procedure:

  1. Ensure that the flax seeds or linseeds (alasi or teesi) are clean and of good quality. (Buy organic flax seeds or linseeds (alasi or teesi) from a big grocery store or any other good shop) Take the seeds in a big colander and remove all the dirt from them nicely.
  2. Heat a heavy based kadhai and transfer the nicely cleaned flax seeds or linseeds (alasi or teesi) to it. Lower the flame to medium level and then dry roast the seeds. (Do not add any oil while roasting the seeds)
  3. The flax seeds or linseeds (alasi or teesi) will begin to crackle as they roast. Now lower the flame and stir to roast the seeds for 5 more minutes. (Do not over roast the seeds otherwise they will taste bitter)
  4. Transfer the roasted flax seeds or linseeds (alasi or teesi) to a plate and allow them to cool.
  5. When the roasted flax seeds or linseeds (alasi or teesi) cool down to room temperature then transfer them to mixture jar and grind to form a fine powder. Store this roasted flax seeds or linseeds (alasi or teesi) powder in an air tight conatainer and use it in salad, raita etc.
