Amla Jam Recipe - Learn How To Make Amla Jam

Indian Gooseberry or the Amla is widely known for its abundant medicinal benefits and its property to provide immunity against diseases. Given below is a recipe of tasty amla jam that goes well with bread, rusks, roti, poori, parathas etc and can be incorporated easily in aregular meals. This jam can be preserved for 4-6 months without the use of any preservatives. Learn how to make this healthy amla jam with the help of step by step photos and detailed recipe given below:

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Indian Gooseberry (amla) - 500 gm
  • Sugar (cheeni) - 500 gm

Procedure:

  1. Wash the Indian gooseberries (amla) well with plain water and then transfer them to a pressure cooker. Add a little water and cover the cooker with its lid. Then pressure cook the Indian gooseberries (amla) for 1 whistle and then turn off the flame. Allow the cooker to cool down
  2. Now take out the Indian gooseberries (amla) from the cooker and cut them into small pieces and remove the seeds.
  3. Transfer the pieces of the Indian gooseberries (amla) to a mixer jar and grind them to form a fine paste.
  4. Now heat a thick based kadhai and transfer the amla paste from the mixer jar to it.
  5. Than add sugar (cheeni) to the kadhai and stir to mix the two ingredients well. Allow the sugar to melt and mix well with amla paste as you stir continuously from the base of the kadhai.
  6. Now lower the flame and cook the ingredients till they start forming a thick mixture.
  7. Continue to stir the mixture from the base of the kadhai and check it in between with your hands to see if the mixture has become sticky like jam. If it has become sticky then cook for 1 more minute. Then turn off the flame. 
  8. Allow the jam prepared to cool and then transfer it to a glass jar. The amla jam is ready to be used with toast, rusk etc and can be preserved for 4-6 months.
